Releasing back-to-back singles "Looking for You", "Young Love & Saturday Nights", and "Right Now", Chris Young just gave the world a taste of what to expect from his upcoming ninth studio LP. With a new album coming out this March via Sony Music Nashville, the man is kicking off a new era full of surprises. Set to serve 18 new tracks on Young Love & Saturday Nights, the man just announced a tour in support of his upcoming release. The album marks new material since 2021's "Famous Friends". On the tour, he's bringing along Bryan Martin as his special guest.
Fans can expect to a mix of his signature compositions from ballads such as "All Dogs Go To Heaven" and uptempo anthems like "Looking For You". One thing's for sure, it's gonna be his best music yet. Nine albums since his debut in 2006, he's come a long way since his "Drinkin' Me Lonely" days.
"This is what this album felt like it needed to be for me," he shared. "It’s a little louder, a little more raw. Even the stripped-down songs are heavier. I love creating music and I love making it and the fact that I get to do that for a living is a pretty incredible thing."
Louder, raw, and heavier, we're surely bound to shed a tear once his record comes out in full glory. His new album's title track takes inspiration from David Bowie's "Rebel Rebel" with its slick guitars. That surely gives us a glimpse of his musical and lyrical growth. "When I first heard this song, I immediately connected with the groove and the lyrics with nods to so many things I can personally relate to," Young shared in a statement. "It made me think back to when I first got started playing country dive bars and it was the same kind of thing. I drove a beat-up truck to and from gigs where I played music hoping the audiences would relate… and if I’m being honest, hoping the girls would like it too."
From dive bars to jam-packed arenas, one thing that defines Chris Young's career is his ability to make music that listeners can relate to. They hit the feels at all the right spots. Over that last decade or so, his hit singles "Voices", "Gettin' You Home (The Black Dress Song)", "I Can Take It from There", "You", "I'm Comin' Over", "Lonely Eyes", "Aw Naw", "Think of You", "Famous Friends", and many more have all spoke to our human souls. His music definitely speaks to the emotions that life experiences bring about.
He hopes that the album makes you feel like you wanna just get together on a road trip, rolling the windows down, "crank up the volume, and just drive around to it." Hinting at heavier stripped-down tracks and louder anthems, it sure seems like an album made for the road. As the man takes his upcoming record for a live spin, make sure to mark your spots at his limited run of shows this Spring. Book your tickets now!
